HALE CENTER, TX – The Whirlwinds faced the undefeated Hale Center Owls on Tuesday in a non-district matchup.
Floydada kept pace early, battling through the first quarter, but the Owls caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down multiple three-pointers to build a 44–25 halftime lead. Hale Center was led by senior Carter Gonzales, who delivered a standout performance with 30 points.
The Whirlwinds looked to rally in the second half, and Casamiro Bolton led the way for Floydada with 25 points, but the Owls’ offense continued its momentum as they secured a 78–40 victory.
Floydada falls to 1-7 on the season and will look ahead to the Childress tournament this weekend.
