LOCKNEY, TX – Lockney Gifted and Talented students recently completed a meaningful service project that allowed them to give back to their community while gaining firsthand experience in service and leadership.

On Monday, December 15, GT students volunteered their time at The Outcome Closet in Lockney, where they helped sort, organize, and prepare donated items for community members in need. Students worked throughout the afternoon unboxing, sorting, and organizing clothing, toys, and other donated goods, ensuring items were ready to be distributed efficiently. The hands-on experience allowed students to see the impact of community service while supporting an important local resource.

The Outcome Closet has recently relocated to the former Schacht Flower Shop, a move that is expected to significantly expand the organization’s ability to serve the Lockney community. The larger and more accessible space will allow for better organization of donations and improved access for families who rely on the service. Community leaders and volunteers are hopeful that the new location will help The Outcome Closet continue to grow as a vital resource for local residents.

The Lockney location of The Outcome Closet is operated by Kayla Sherman, a lifelong resident of Lockney, who is dedicated to serving the community through this ministry. Her commitment and vision have helped establish the organization as a place of support and care for those in need, and the recent move marks an exciting new chapter for the ministry.

Lockney ISD is thankful for opportunities like this service project, which allow students to learn the value of compassion, responsibility, and community involvement. Through their work at The Outcome Closet, GT students not only provided meaningful assistance but also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of serving others and supporting local organizations that make a difference in the lives of community members.
