FLOYD COUNTY, TX – The Floyd County Stock Show sale on Monday, January 5, 2026, included a special moment as the 2026 Sweepstakes winner was announced and presented with the prestigious traveling trophy. The Sweepstakes Award is one of the highest honors associated with the Floyd County Stock Show and recognizes outstanding dedication, leadership, and commitment to youth livestock programs within the county.
This annual award includes a $500 scholarship, a traveling trophy that is held for the year, and a commemorative plaque for the recipient to keep. To be considered, candidates must first qualify for the Floyd County Stock Show scholarship and then complete a detailed essay addressing multiple questions. The essay portion allows applicants to reflect on their involvement in agriculture, personal growth through the stock show program, and future goals, making the selection process both competitive and meaningful.
Only one individual from Floyd County is selected for the Sweepstakes Award each year, adding to the significance of the recognition. The award highlights not only academic and livestock achievements, but also character, responsibility, and dedication to the values promoted by the Floyd County Stock Show.
The 2025 Sweepstakes recipient, Kaileigh Cook, was present at the sale to pass on the honor by presenting the plaque and traveling trophy to the incoming winner. This tradition symbolizes the continuation of excellence and leadership among Floyd County youth participating in the stock show program.
Congratulations to Payten Shuping of Floydada on being named the Floyd County 2026 Sweepstakes winner. This achievement reflects hard work, commitment, and a strong representation of the agricultural youth programs that play an important role in Floyd County.
