
FLOYDADA, TX – Several Floydada High School UIL academic students earned top finishes while competing in the Winter at Tech Virtual Meet, hosted by Texas Tech University.
Students from Floydada High School competed against schools from across the region in a variety of academic events, showcasing their knowledge and skills in math, science, writing, and journalism.
The following students placed in their respective events:
Joshua Stewart – 6th Place – Math
Kanon Rainwater – 3rd Place – Science
Wesley Crowe – 2nd Place – Science; 3rd Place – Math; 5th Place -Number Sense
Alejandra Martinez – 6th Place – Ready Writing
Hiram Lopez – 3rd Place – Ready Writing
In journalism competition, Noah Fierros was named the Top Journalism Student of the meet and was awarded a $300 scholarship to Texas Tech University. Fierros earned multiple awards, including:
1st Place, Copy & Editing
1st Place, Headline Writing
1st Place, News Writing
3rd Place, Editorial Writing
3rd Place, Feature Writing
