
LOCKNEY, TX — The Lockney Powerlifting teams delivered strong performances at the recent meet held January 19 at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center (MUNCY), with both the Lady Longhorns and Longhorns finishing third overall in team standings.
The Lockney girls powerlifting team showcased impressive strength and depth across multiple weight classes.
Jasmine Gonzales earned a 1st place finish in the 97-pound class.
Carly Wright placed 4th in the 132-pound class.
Nayiahllee Vasquez captured 1st place in the 220-pound class.
Ciara Hernandez also secured 1st place, competing in the 242-pound class.
The girls’ collective effort propelled them to a third-place team finish in a competitive field.
The Lockney boys powerlifting team matched the girls’ success with a strong showing that also resulted in a third-place overall finish. Individual highlights included:
Devin Duran placing 3rd in the 123-pound class
Ryan Casillas earning 3rd place in the 132-pound class
Kason Villarreal finishing 4th in the 148-pound class
Josiah Salas placing 12th in the 148-pound class
Caycen Wright finishing 16th in the 165-pound class
Russell Casillas earning 3rd place in the 181-pound class
Noah Perez placing 5th in the 181-pound class
Darrin Jimenez capturing 1st place in the 198-pound class
Esaiel Nunez finishing 4th in the 198-pound class
Carson Pritchard placing 8th in the 220-pound class
Edward Longoria earning 3rd place in the 275-pound class
Jose Salazar finishing 2nd in the 308-pound class
Jason Reyna placing 3rd in the 308-pound class (unequipped)
Coaches praised the athletes for their dedication and teamwork throughout the meet, while also extending thanks to meet officials, judges, spotters, helpers, and Lockney staff for their support in making the event successful.
With strong individual finishes and solid team results, the Lockney Powerlifting program continues to show growth and competitiveness as the season progresses.
