LOCKNEY, TX – The boil water notice issued for the City of Lockney has officially been rescinded, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

On January 22, 2026, the City of Lockney public water system was required by TCEQ to issue a boil water notice after conditions in the system required residents to boil water prior to using it for drinking or human consumption.

City officials have since taken the necessary corrective actions to restore water quality throughout the system. Laboratory test results provided to TCEQ indicate the water now meets all safety standards and no longer requires boiling as of January 23, 2026.

The City of Lockney confirmed that disinfectant residual levels throughout the system are above minimum requirements and that samples submitted for microbiological testing show the issue has been resolved. Officials say all required documentation has been submitted to TCEQ and the situation was addressed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Residents may now resume normal use of tap water for drinking and other household purposes.

For additional information, residents may contact Raymond Kern at (806) 475-1145 or reach out to Lockney City Hall.
