Lockney Powerlifting Teams Shine at Plains Invitational

PLAINS, TX – The Lockney Powerlifting teams turned in strong performances at the Plains Invitational held Jan. 29 in Plains, Texas, with both the boys and girls squads earning top overall finishes against a competitive field.

The Lockney girls team placed fifth overall, highlighted by several individual champions. Jasmine Gonzales captured first place in the 97-pound weight class, while Siya Salazar earned first place in the 123-pound class. Carly Wright continued the success with a first-place finish in the 132-pound division, and Zaibrea Calderon rounded out the girls’ results by placing third in the 220-pound class.

On the boys’ side, the Lockney boys team finished third overall, showcasing depth across multiple weight classes. Ryan Casillas led the way with a third-place finish in the 132-pound class. In the 148-pound division, Kason Villarreal placed fourth, X’zavien Bernal finished eighth, and Josiah Rosales earned sixth place. Caycen Wright added a seventh-place finish in the 165-pound class, while Joseph Nunez placed eighth in the same division.
Additional highlights included Noah Perez finishing fifth in the 181-pound class, Esaiel Nunez claiming first place in the 198-pound division, and Julius Rosales earning second place in that same weight class. Carson Pritchard added a fifth-place finish in the 220-pound class, and Edward Longoria closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 275-pound division.

Overall, it was a successful meet for the Lockney powerlifters, with strong individual performances contributing to solid team finishes.
