Floydada ISD UIL Teams Earn Top Honors at Red Raider Classic

LUBBOCK, TX – Floydada ISD UIL academic teams turned in an outstanding performance at the Red Raider Classic held Saturday, January 17, 2026, on the campus of Texas Tech University, earning multiple team trophies and individual awards against strong regional competition.

The Floydada Science Team captured 1st place overall, while the Math Team secured a 3rd place finish, highlighting a successful day for the district’s academic competitors.

Leading the way was Joshua Stewart, who placed 6th overall in Math, 3rd in 11th grade Math, 5th overall in Science, and 2nd in 11th grade Science.
Kanon Rainwater earned an impressive list of honors, including 1st place in 11th grade Science, 3rd overall Science, 4th place in 11th grade Math, and was named Top Physics Student at the meet.
Madison Pyle finished 5th in 11th grade Math and 4th in 11th grade Science, while Angel Olvera placed 6th in 11th grade Math and 3rd in 11th grade Science.
John Taylor Snowden added multiple placements, earning 6th in 12th grade Math, 5th in 12th grade Number Sense, and 5th in 12th grade Science.

Additional individual accomplishments included Rilynn Hinsley, who placed 5th in 11th grade Calculator, and Brooklyn Pyle, who earned 6th place in 9th grade Calculator.

In writing events, Hiram Lopez placed 5th in Ready Writing, while Sergio Martinez finished 6th in Ready Writing.
Noah Fierros had a standout performance, earning 1st place in Feature Writing, 2nd place in News Writing, 5th place in Copy & Editing, and 5th place in Headline Writing.

The Floydada Accounting Team also brought home hardware, finishing 2nd overall. Team members included Ricky Loustannau, who placed 4th in Accounting, Marty Riojas with 5th place, and Hector Flores, who earned 6th place.
