FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds are gearing up for the 2026 baseball season, with a full schedule now officially released. The season features a mix of scrimmages, tournaments, non-district matchups, and a competitive district slate as the Whirlwinds look to make a strong run this spring.
The Whirlwinds will open preseason action with scrimmages against Post on February 7 and Muleshoe on February 14, both at home in Floydada. Regular season play begins February 16 on the road at Slaton.
Throughout February and March, Floydada will compete in several tournaments, including the Kress Tournament (February 19–21), the Floydada Tournament (February 26–28), and the Ralls Tournament (March 12–14). The annual Alumni Game is scheduled for March 7 in Floydada, and the JV Whirlwinds will also host a JV tournament later in March, with dates to be announced.
District play officially begins on March 24, when the Whirlwinds host Memphis in Floydada. From there, district games will be played through late April, with both home and away matchups against Memphis, Wellington, Clarendon, Quanah, and Lockney. Many district games are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. first pitches, giving fans plenty of opportunities to support the Whirlwinds at home.

The regular season will wrap up with a district road game at Lockney on April 24.

The Whirlwinds are led by Head Coach Jeff Fabila, with Jose Martinez serving as assistant coach. Jeff Smith is the athletic director, Dr. Gilbert Trevino is superintendent, Rhanda Emery is the high school principal, and Emily Martin serves as trainer.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Whirlwinds throughout the season, especially during district play as the team pushes toward postseason competition.
