Floydada City Council to Meet February 17; City Manager Hiring Among Key Agenda Items

FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 114 W. Virginia Street.

The meeting will open with the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. A public forum will also be held early in the meeting, giving citizens the opportunity to address the council on items of concern.

Among the items listed on the agenda, council members will review and consider action on the 2025 Racial Profiling Report presented by Floyd County Sheriff Raul Raissez. The council will also discuss a request from Mr. Fireworks regarding de-annexation to remove his property from the City’s Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ).

Several executive sessions are scheduled during the meeting. Council members will meet in closed session in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act to discuss the employment of a City Attorney, personnel matters related to City Manager applicants, and competitive matters concerning the city’s public power utility.

Following executive session, the council is expected to take possible action on matters related to the City Attorney position, consider offering the City Manager position to a prospective applicant, and address any public power utility matters discussed behind closed doors.

Additional business will include discussion and possible action on rescheduling the March council meeting, approval of the minutes from the January 20, 2026 regular meeting, and review of cash balances, investments, and payment of January 2026 transfers, fixed expenses, and city bills.

to discuss employment of City Attorney under Section 551.071 and 551.074 of the Act.
7. Executive Session – In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Annotated,
Section 551.074 to discuss personnel matters – City Manager Applicants.
8. Executive Session – In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Annotated,
Section 551.086 to discuss public power utility regarding competitive matters.
9. Discussion/Action regarding matters related to City Attorney employment.
10. Discussion/Action on offering City Manager position to prospective applicant.
11. Discussion/Action regarding matters on public power utility discussed in executive session.
12. Discussion/Action of rescheduling March council meeting.
13. Approve minutes of last regular meeting held January 20, 2026.
14. Review cash balances and investments, and approve payment of the January 2026 transfers,
fixed expenses and city bills.
15. Adjourn.
