Lockney Lifters Bring Home Hardware from Ralph Shemwell Classic

AMARILLO, TX – The Lockney Longhorns and Lady Longhorns powerlifting teams delivered an impressive performance on February 14 at the Ralph Shemwell Classic in Amarillo, with multiple athletes earning top finishes and team honors.

The Lady Longhorns finished 3rd overall as a team, highlighted by several strong individual performances. Jasmine Gonzales claimed 1st place in the 97-pound weight class, while Nayiahlee Vasquez earned a 1st-place finish in the 198-pound division. Ciara Hernandez also reached the podium, taking 3rd place in the 220-pound weight class.

On the boys’ side, the Longhorns placed 8th overall in the equipped division. Ryan Casillas secured 3rd place in the 132-pound weight class, and Kason Villarreal finished 4th in the 148-pound division. Robert De Los Santos earned 2nd place in the 165-pound weight class, while Caycen Wright took 7th in the same division. Esaiel Nunez added a strong performance with a 4th-place finish in the 198-pound class.

Competing in the boys’ unequipped division, the Longhorns placed 5th overall as a team. Josiah Rosales competed in the 148-pound division, while Joseph Nunez brought home 2nd place in the 165-pound class. Julius Rosales earned 3rd in the 198-pound division, and Jason Reyna capped off the meet with a 1st-place finish in the 308-pound weight class.

The meet marked another successful outing for Lockney’s powerlifting program, showcasing the hard work and dedication of both teams. Coaches expressed pride in the athletes’ performances and thanked parents and fans for their continued support throughout the season.
