FLOYDADA, TX – As tax season approaches, Texas Plains Federal Credit Union is encouraging area residents to prepare by opening a new account and taking advantage of a limited-time promotion.
Throughout the month of February, the credit union is waiving its $25 membership fee for all new accounts opened between February 1 and February 29, 2026.
With the federal government continuing to move away from mailing paper checks, direct deposit has become the fastest and most secure way to receive income tax refunds. Credit union officials say now is the perfect time for individuals and families to establish an account and ensure their refunds are deposited electronically.
By setting up direct deposit, members can avoid delays associated with mailed checks and gain quicker access to their funds.
The promotion is available to new memberships only. To qualify, accounts must remain open for at least six months. Some restrictions may apply.
Residents interested in taking advantage of the February promotion are encouraged to visit https://www.texasplainsfederal.org/ or stop by the Floydada location (105 S Wall St) for more information on eligibility and account options.
