The fifth inning proved to be the most explosive frame of the game. Kress rallied for four runs to cut into the deficit, but the Whirlwinds answered in a big way, erupting for seven runs to stretch their lead to 12-5.

Floydada tacked on another run in the sixth inning to make it 13-5. Kress had one final opportunity in the top of the seventh and managed to score once more, but the comeback effort fell short as the Whirlwinds secured the 13-6 win.
