LOCKNEY, TX – Lockney Elementary School took time this week to recognize the hardworking individuals who help keep the district’s facilities running smoothly each day. In honor of National Maintenance Appreciation Day, which was observed on Saturday, March 7, 2026, the campus set aside Tuesday to celebrate the dedication and service of the Lockney Independent School District maintenance team.
The maintenance staff plays a vital role in the daily operations of the district, working behind the scenes to ensure that classrooms, campuses, and athletic facilities remain safe, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors. Their responsibilities extend far beyond routine upkeep, often requiring long hours and a wide range of skills to address repairs, maintain equipment, and prepare facilities for school events and activities.
Members of the LISD maintenance team include Chris Ascencio, Kenny Hooten, D’Angelo Thomas, Yolanda Medrano, Selena Gonzales, Josie Palomin, and Deelisa Vasquez. Together, the team maintains all three district campuses as well as the various buildings, grounds, sports fields, and courts used by students and community groups throughout the year.
From preparing facilities for daily classes to maintaining athletic spaces used by student-athletes, the maintenance staff helps ensure that Lockney ISD continues to provide a safe and welcoming environment for learning and extracurricular activities. Their work often takes place early in the morning, late in the evening, and in all types of weather, demonstrating a strong commitment to the district and the community it serves.
By recognizing the maintenance staff this week, Lockney Elementary highlighted the importance of the team’s efforts and expressed appreciation for the many ways they support students, teachers, and programs across the district.
