FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Collegiate Spirit of the Winds High School Band earned top marks this spring, receiving the highest possible ratings at their UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation.
The band was awarded a Division I rating in Concert and a Division I rating in Sight-Reading, the highest honor a band can achieve at the annual evaluation. These ratings reflect the students’ musical preparation, performance quality, and ability to perform unfamiliar music accurately during the sight-reading portion of the contest.
Students in the Floydada band spent months preparing for the evaluation, working on concert selections and refining their overall musicianship. During the concert portion, the band performed prepared pieces for a panel of judges who evaluated tone quality, balance, technique, and musical interpretation. In the sight-reading room, the band was given a piece of music they had never seen before and performed it after a short preparation period.
Earning Division I ratings in both categories is a significant accomplishment and highlights the dedication and hard work of the student musicians and their director throughout the school year.
The Floydada Collegiate Spirit of the Winds Band continues to represent Floydada High School with pride, showcasing the talent and commitment of its members through their performances and achievements.
