POST, TX – Two members of the Lockney High School powerlifting team are headed to the state meet after strong performances at the regional powerlifting competition held in Post.

Russell Casillas and Darrin Jimenez each earned qualifying spots and will advance to compete at the Boys State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene.

The regional meet brought together some of the top lifters from across the area, with athletes competing in the squat, bench press, and deadlift events. Casillas and Jimenez both delivered impressive performances throughout the competition, securing totals that placed them among the top lifters in their respective weight classes and earning them a trip to the state stage.

Qualifying for the state powerlifting meet is a significant accomplishment, as only the top athletes from each region advance to the final competition of the season.

Casillas and Jimenez will now prepare to represent Lockney at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Boys State Meet, where they will compete against the best lifters from across the state.

The state meet will be held in Abilene later this month.
