FLOYDADA, TX — The Floydada Methodist Church is inviting the community to come together in support of one of its own with a special lunch fundraiser set for Sunday, April 12.

The fundraiser will feature a drive-through cheeseburger meal beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with all proceeds going toward medical expenses and housing costs for the Hanes family.

Jennifer Hanes (Rainwater), a Floydada native, and her husband Chance, who now live in Canyon with their three children, have been facing an incredibly difficult situation. While on a family ski trip in Colorado in January, their oldest daughter, Ellie, suffered severe injuries.

Since the accident, the family has remained in Denver, staying by Ellie’s side as she continues her recovery. To manage the situation, they are currently living out of an Airbnb, accommodating not only their immediate family but also the steady stream of friends and loved ones who have come to offer support.

In addition to ongoing medical expenses, the family is also preparing for necessary structural modifications to their home in Canyon to meet Ellie’s future needs.

Church leaders say the goal of the fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden on the family so they can focus fully on Ellie’s recovery.

Community members who are unable to attend the lunch fundraiser but still wish to contribute can donate to a love fund established at First United Bank locations in Amarillo and Canyon. Donations can also be dropped off at the Floydada Methodist Church office during regular hours, with instructions to designate the funds for the Hanes family.

Organizers encourage continued prayers and support for the family during this challenging time. For more information or to help sponsor the event, individuals can contact Kortney at 806-392-3826.

The Floydada community has a long-standing tradition of rallying around families in need, and this event offers another opportunity to show that spirit of generosity and compassion.
