
EDINBURG, TX – Lockney athletes showcased determination and resilience at the state meet, competing against a highly competitive field of 92 schools from across the state. The team finished 23rd overall, a strong showing at one of the most challenging levels of competition and a testament to the hard work and dedication displayed throughout the season.
Reaching the state meet is an accomplishment in itself, and the Lockney girls rose to the occasion, embracing the intensity of the competition and representing their school with pride. Each athlete contributed to the team’s success, demonstrating perseverance, focus, and a commitment to excellence on a large stage.
Two competitors stood out with top finishes, bringing home individual honors for Lockney. Nayiahlee Vasquez earned a fourth-place finish in the 198-pound weight class, while Ellianna Jimenez also secured fourth place in the 242-pound division. Their performances highlighted both skill and determination, as they battled through tough brackets to reach the podium.
The team’s overall performance reflects a season of growth and dedication, with the state meet serving as a fitting culmination of their efforts. Lockney’s athletes not only proved they can compete among the best in the state, but also set a strong foundation for continued success in the future.
