
FLOYDADA, TX – Members of the Floydada FFA chapter have been making waves across Texas, earning top honors at both the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Rodeo Austin.
At the Houston Livestock Show, several Floydada students showcased their hard work in the show ring. The Holmes family celebrated a successful week as DJ Holmes earned 5th place with his Duroc Barrow, finishing his junior show season strong and securing a spot in the sale.
The Kellison family also had a standout performance, as Carson Kellison claimed Class Winner in the Lightweight AOC Steer division. In his first year showing, the Floydada FFA 3rd grader made an impressive mark, with his calf selling for an outstanding $25,000.
The Shuping family added to the success in Houston, as Pea Shuping earned 4th place with a Spot Barrow, also making the sale and continuing a strong season in the ring.
Meanwhile, Floydada FFA was also well represented in Austin. Rilynn Hinsley earned Class Winner honors in the ABC Steer division at Rodeo Austin, further highlighting the depth of talent within the chapter.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication of Floydada FFA students, their families, and advisors who spend countless hours preparing for competition. Competing and succeeding at two of the state’s premier livestock shows is a testament to their commitment and the strength of the Floydada FFA program.
