Lockney Senior Nickolas Cervantes Wins First at Houston Stock Show

HOUSTON, TX – A Lockney High School senior is bringing home top honors from one of the nation’s most prestigious livestock exhibitions.

Nickolas Cervantes, a senior at Lockney ISD, earned First Place in Class 8 Heifer Simmental at the Houston Livestock Show, showcasing his hard work, dedication, and skill in the show ring.

The Houston Stock Show is widely recognized as one of the largest and most competitive livestock exhibitions in the country, drawing thousands of exhibitors from across Texas and beyond. Earning a first-place finish at this level is a significant accomplishment and reflects countless hours of preparation and commitment.

Cervantes’ success not only highlights his individual achievement but also represents the strength of Lockney ISD’s agricultural and FFA programs. Students involved in these programs gain hands-on experience, discipline, and responsibility—qualities clearly demonstrated in the show ring.
