
FLOYDADA ,TX – Floydada High School students showcased their academic excellence and competitive spirit at the UIL Academic Meet, earning top individual honors and multiple team awards while advancing several students to the regional level.
Leading the way in individual events, Pea Shuping captured 2nd Place in Informative Speaking to qualify for regionals, while Ella Snowden earned 3rd Place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, also securing a regional berth. Noah Fierros had an outstanding performance across multiple journalism categories, placing 3rd in Copy Editing and Editorial Writing—both regional qualifying finishes, while also earning 5th in Feature Writing and Headline Writing.
Tiffiny Perez added to the strong journalism showing with 3rd Place finishes in both News Writing and Feature Writing, qualifying in both events. Additional regional alternate honors went to Brittney Machado (4th Place Social Studies) and Adrielle Martinez (4th Place Persuasive Speaking).
Other notable individual finishes included Tavianne Bullock (5th Place Persuasive Speaking), Sergio Martinez (5th Place Ready Writing), Marty Riojas (5th Place Accounting), Staci Lopez (6th Place Poetry), Amareah Taylor (6th Place Editorial Writing), and Korbyn Womack (6th Place Current Events).
Floydada’s team success was equally impressive, highlighted by a 1st Place finish in Mathematics, led by Wesley Crowe, who earned 1st Place individually to qualify for regionals. Kanon Rainwater (5th) and Joshua Stewart (6th) also secured regional qualifying spots, with John Taylor Snowden advancing as well.
The Literary Criticism team placed 2nd overall, with David Guerra taking 1st Place individually to qualify for regionals. He was joined by teammates Andreya Garza, Averli Segura, and Renae Delgado.
Floydada also earned 2nd Place team finishes in several other categories, demonstrating depth across academic disciplines:

Calculator Applications: Wesley Crowe (2nd Place), Martin Ramirez (6th), Nayhomi Garcia, Brooklyn Pyle, Emily Martinez, and Jayvien Aleman
Science: Wesley Crowe (2nd Place, Regional Qualifier), Kanon Rainwater (6th), Joshua Stewart, Angel Olvera, Brody Hughes, and Madison Pyle
Spelling & Vocabulary: Alexa Brown (2nd Place, Regional Qualifier), Martin Ramirez, Nicholai Owens, and Isabella Rodriguez
The team’s consistent success across multiple categories highlights the hard work and dedication of Floydada students and their coaches. With a strong group of regional qualifiers advancing, Floydada will look to carry this momentum into the next level of UIL competition.
