Lockney Powerlifters Compete at State Meet Against Tough Field

LOCKNEY, TX – Two Lockney High School athletes represented their school on the biggest stage this past weekend, competing at the Texas state powerlifting meet and going head-to-head with some of the strongest lifters in the state.

Russell Casillas finished 13th overall in his weight class, while teammate Darrin Jimenez secured an 11th-place finish. Although neither lifter reached the medal stand, both athletes delivered strong performances in a highly competitive field.

Qualifying for the state meet is an accomplishment in itself, requiring months of dedication, discipline, and consistent performance throughout the season. Casillas and Jimenez earned their spots through impressive showings at the regional level, setting the stage for their appearance at state.
