WASHINGTON, DC – Corn sales hit a new marketing year high last week, while sorghum exports set a new high for 2021 according to the Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS), based on USDA’s Weekly Export Sales Report, for the week ending November 18, 2021.
Wheat sales were up 42 percent (567,500 MT) from the previous week and 70 percent from the prior 4-week average, with the top three buyers being Japan, Nigeria, and Mexico. Exports were down 36 percent (199,200 MT) from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average, primarily to Mexico, South Korea, and Japan.
Corn sales hit a marketing-year high (1,429,200 MT) and were up 58 percent from the previous week and 40 percent from the prior 4-week average, primarily to Mexico, Canada, and Japan. Exports, however, fell 20 percent (929,000 MT) from the previous week but were 12 percent higher than the 4-week average to Mexico, China, and Japan (93,600 MT).
Sorghum’s net sales were 146,900 MT for China. Exports hit a new marketing-year high (215,400 MT), primarily to China and Mexico.
Soybeans sales were up 13 percent (1,564,500 MT) from the previous week and the prior 4-week average on China, Mexico, and Thailand purchases. Exports slipped 4 percent (2,253,000 MT) from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average to China, Thailand, and Pakistan.
Cotton sales were 44 percent higher (196,900 RB) than the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average on China, Vietnam, and Pakistani purchases. Exports were also 25 percent (97,100 RB) higher than the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average, primarily to China, Mexico, and Vietnam.
Beef sales fell 24 percent (19,300 MT) from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average, primarily for South Korea, China, and Canada. Exports, meantime, were unchanged (18,200 MT) from the previous week and up 6 percent from the prior 4-week average destined for South Korea, Japan, and China.
Pork sales were disappointing on a 30 percent decrease (17,500 MT) week over week and a 43 percent decline from the prior 4-week average to Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. Exports were also lower (28,900 MT), down 17 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average, primarily to Mexico, China, and Japan.
