ABERNATHY – The Lockney Longhorns survived an extended game one Friday night and then run ruled game two Saturday to take the bi-district series over the Ropes Eagles in Abernathy this weekend.

Lockney loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth late Friday night with Pablo Morales walking, Austin Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and Josh Jimenez singled. Malaki Alvis hit a RBI single to score Rodriguez. Then Martin Salas received a walk to walk-off the winning run with Jimenez crossing home plate.

Morales and Jimenez each hit a double and led Lockney by each going 2-3 at the plate, each getting a RBI and scoring a run.

Austin Rodriguez got the win in 5.2-innings after relieving Morales on the mound. Rodriguez gave up three runs on seven hits. He hurled seven strikeouts.

The start time of Friday’s game one was delayed due to umpires traveling in from out of town. With the extra innings the game technically went into early Saturday morning before the Longhorns came out on top.
