FLOYDADA – According to Floydada Lady Winds coach Adam Zepeda, establishing the proper basketball skills and developing a love for the game is the purpose of the 4th Annual Floydada Junior Whirlwind Basketball Camp.
The Junior Whirlwind Camp is for incoming first graders up to freshmen in high school for both boys and girls Monday through Wednesday at Whirlwind Gym.
The camp is divided into two age categories of first to fourth graders in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with fifth through ninth graders in the afternoon session from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“Instilling fundaments at an early age is essential to becoming a great basketball player. Getting the proper instruction and practicing these skills is very important,” said Zepeda, who has coached Floydada to District Championships both with the Whirlwinds and Lady Winds.
“A typical day at camp emphasis on fundamentals on ball handling, shooting, passing, footwork, defense, rebounding, teamwork and skills contests,” Zedpeda added.
All participants will receive a T-shirt. The cost to attend is $40 per camper. Campers are to show up on time in workout clothes and ready for instruction.
