WOLFFORTH – It was only appropriate that five Floydada Collegiate High School seniors conclude their illustrious careers as Lady Winds by playing key roles in a 12-4 win in the Greater West Texas Softball Coaches Association (GWTSCA) All-Star game at the Frenship Lady Tigers Field on Friday. They played in the small school contest involving 1A, 2A, 3A and TAPPS players.

Erin Trevino got the win by pitching four innings of shutout ball and recording five strikeouts. Trevino also went 2-4 batting with one RBI; shortstop Clarissa Delafuente was 1-3 with a pair of RBI; and third baseman Celese Wickware finished 1-4 with two runs batted in. Also playing in the All-Star game were second baseman Kailee Sanchez and catcher Marissa Obregon.

These girls have made major contributions to the Lady Winds finishing 25-2 in 2021 and 32-5 in 2022. As juniors they helped lead Floydada to the Region 1-2A Quarterfinals, followed by a march to the Region 1-2A Semifinals as seniors. They played softball together since age seven on the Diamond Dusters coached by Gilbert Trevino and Eddie Sanchez.

Floydada coach Armando Morales was the assistant coach in the GWTSCA All-Star game.
