RALLS – The Floydada Lady Winds summer team won the Ralls Tournament this weekend in a dramatic fashion of coming through the loser’s bracket and then winning the Championship over host Ralls 7-6 on a walk-off single by Tatum Glasscock that drove in two runs. The game ended near Midnight on Saturday.

“Floydada was trailing by four runs to Ralls most of the game. We rallied in the final at-bat by scoring five runs. Tatum Glassock had a magnificent hit to right field that brought across two runs for the win and the tournament championship. It was an unbelievable game!” declared coach Jimmy Garcia, who has coached this age group of girls since they were eight years old.

Floydada lost their first round game 4-3 on Friday to a good Roosevelt team. The Lady Winds then had to take the more difficult route of fighting through the losers bracket and was facing elimination every time they took the field. Floydada rebounded with a solid 15-2 win over Slaton followed by receiving a forfeit from Sudan. The Lady Winds met up with Slaton for a second time and again won convincingly 19-1 which earned a rematch with Roosevelt in the semifinals. This time Floydada squeaked out an 8-5 win over the Lady Eagles.

Floydada was in the Championship game with the Ralls Jackrabbits on their diamond. The Lady Winds were up to the challenge with a hard fought come-from-behind win of 7-6. Outstanding softball player Cadence Yocum pitched the entire game for Ralls.

Coach Garcia used a rotation of three pitchers throughout the tourney with Kaley Garza, Analise Perez and Carissa Fernandez. The trio each had outstanding moments in the circle during the tourney according to Garcia. Floydada’s bats were active in the tourney with numerous doubles and triples according to Garcia.
