CANYON, TX – The #12 Floydada Whirlwinds (33-5, 14-1) battled against the Stratford Elks (7-12, 3-2) in the Area round of playoffs on Friday night.
The Whirlwinds were able to jump out to an early 19-11 lead in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Whirlwinds were able to continue their momentum and extend their lead to 46-24.
Floydada’s defense created turnovers, and in the third quarter they would continue to lead 67-40.
In the fourth quarter, the Whirlwinds would close the game out and be victorious over the Elks, 84-63.
The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by senior Abran Castilo with 26 points in the win on Friday night.
Floydada will match up against #3 Farwell in the regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
