MUNCY, TX – Do “Lovers Live Longer”? Apparently, their musical careers do.
The song, written and performed by David Bellamy and his brother Howard, hit number 3 on the Billboard Country Charts in 1980 and is not one of the eleven number-one records recorded by the Bellamy Brothers, but will be on the setlist as they perform for the first time ever in Floyd County.
The duo from Darby, Florida, still travel and perform up to 200 shows per year and will be headlining the 27th Annual Floyd County Friends (FCF) Benefit Gala on April 22, 2023.
Originally launched to help raise money to build a multi-purpose arena in Floyd County (for stock shows, a county fair, etc.), the event today helps provide the annual funding needed to maintain and operate the facility, which doesn’t rely on any tax-payer funding.
The upcoming Gala has been sold out for months, according to Segayle Foster, FCF Gala Coordinator, and has a waiting list. After taking a one-year hiatus for covid, country artists Mark Chesnutt (2021) and Neal McCoy (2022) have performed to a sold-out audience.
