LOCKNEY, TX – Despite more revenue, fewer visits to the clinic and hospital contributed to a net loss for the Lockney Hospital District in June of $197,853.

“Volumes in June were low in most areas of the hospital and clinic as typical for the summer season,” explained CEO Vince DiFranco.

During the month, clinic visits totaled 850; emergency room visits were 177; there were seven acute admissions for 23 patient days observation patients.

DiFranco told members of the District Board at their last meeting (July 26, 2023) that “total gross revenue (charges) for the month was $1,489,607 compared to a budget of $1,864,083 and $1,232,368 in June 2022. Other operating revenue was $95,517 (and) with adjustments at $940,490, overall expenses at $963,112 and non-operating revenue of $120,624,” which led to the net loss for the month.

The Board learned that United Health Care had signed a settlement agreement to pay the underpaid amount for ten inpatient claims from 2021 and 2022, and “that should clear the way for us to receive the reimbursement check,” he added.
