Longhorns Begin District With a Win Over Smyer

SMYER, TX – The Lockney Longhorns started their district schedule against the Smyer Bobcats on Tuesday.

The Longhorns had the lead 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Smyer’s offense was held to just nine points in the second quarter, and the Longhorns were able to extend their lead going into halftime, 23-20.

Both teams would score 10 points in the third quarter, and Lockney remained ahead 33-30.

Smyer fought back in the fourth quarter; however, the Longhorns were able to hold off the comeback and secure the victory, 49-46.

Lockney was led in scoring by Nathan Hernandez, who had 22 points and five rebounds.

Also contributing to the win on Tuesday was Dyllan Thiebaud, who had 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Lockney moves to 1-0 in district play and 5-6 overall.
