Whirlwinds Stunned by Owls at Home on Tuesday

FLOYDADA, TX – The #6-ranked Floydada Whirlwinds were in district action on Tuesday night as they hosted the Hale Center Owls.

The Whirlwinds were able to jump out to an early 16-11 lead after the first quarter.

Hale Center found momentum in the second quarter and would take a 31-27 lead going into halftime.

Both teams went back and forth in the third quarter, but Floydada was able to regain the lead and went into the fourth quarter up 47-44.

The Owls hit several clutch shots in the fourth quarter, outscoring Floydada 21-13, and were able to prevent the late comeback from the Whirlwinds to secure the 65-60 victory on Tuesday.

The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by junior Ty Henderson, who had 21 points and four rebounds.

Also contributing to the scoring for Floydada were junior Braun Hobbs (16 points and 4 rebounds) and senior Aiden Trevino (10 points and 4 rebounds).

Floydada moves to 5-1 in district play and is in a three-way tie for first place with Olton and Hale Center.
