FLOYDADA, TX – Maybe it’s irony, or maybe it’s completing the circle; either way, Lighthouse Electric Cooperative presented a donation to the Floydada Collegiate ISD KidWind program Thursday.
KidWind is an event that allows teams to display their knowledge and understanding of renewable energy. Students build their own versions of wind turbines and solar energy projects.
This year, the team qualified for the National (World) Competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in May, but it has only been participating in the competition for the past two years.
The fact that the county has opportunities for jobs in the wind industry, which exists to supply electricity to the power grid, and Lighthouse provides electricity to all of the rural areas of the county, making the donation even more rewarding.
