CLARENDON, TX – In a pivotal district showdown with playoff seeding on the line, the Floydada Lady Winds hit the road Tuesday to take on the Clarendon Lady Broncos.
The matchup was a defensive battle from the start, but Clarendon managed to edge out Floydada 2-1 in a game packed with postseason energy.
Both teams came into the contest eyeing the district title, and the intensity reflected that. After three scoreless innings, Floydada broke through in the top of the fourth with a single run, only to see Clarendon respond with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. That would prove to be the difference, as neither team scored again.

Despite the loss, the Lady Winds’ defense kept them within striking distance, capitalizing on several Clarendon fielding errors to stay in the game. However, Floydada was unable to cash in late, leaving runners stranded and missing out on key opportunities to tie or take the lead.
With the teams now tied atop the district standings, the next step will be to determine seeding for the playoffs. Coaches from both sides will either agree to a seeding game or settle the matter with a coin flip to decide the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.
