SEMINOLE, TX – The Floydada Lady Winds opened their playoff series against the Colorado City Lady Wolves with a pair of intense and hard-fought games, splitting the series 1-1 and setting the stage for a decisive Game 3.
Game 1: Lady Winds Fall Short Despite Strong Offensive Showing
In Game 1, the Lady Winds out-hit Colorado City 10 to 6 but couldn’t convert enough runs to secure the win, falling 6–4 in a tightly contested matchup.
After two quiet innings, Colorado City erupted for five runs in the third inning, putting Floydada on their heels. The Lady Winds answered with a run in the bottom of the second and three more in the fourth, but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Despite recording more hits and committing fewer errors (1 compared to Colorado City’s 2), Floydada struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, stranding key runners and missing timely hits.
Game 2: Lady Winds Outlast Colorado City in 9-Inning Slugfest
Game 2 was a battle of endurance, with the Lady Winds coming out on top in a 13–12 extra-inning thriller that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
After falling behind early, Floydada surged back with a 5-run sixth inning to take the lead. Colorado City continued to fight, tying the game and forcing extra innings. The Lady Winds showed their grit, plating the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and holding on for the win.
Floydada racked up 14 hits and took advantage of Colorado City’s eight errors, which proved costly in the high-scoring affair. Though the Lady Winds committed four errors themselves, clutch hitting and timely plays kept their playoff hopes alive.
