FLOYDADA, TX – Floydada Collegiate ISD has reached a remarkable milestone in its commitment to academic excellence and student success. On a momentous day for the district, nine high school seniors graduated with their Associate of Arts degrees from South Plains College—shattering the previous record of just two students achieving this feat in a single year.
These students—Angel Garza, Miranda Reyes, Caleb Speed, Braun Hobbs, Ava Gonzales, JD Pesina, Callie Brittain, Jakob Cuellar, and Katelynn Ramirez—walked the stage at South Plains College’s graduation ceremony, having completed the rigorous coursework required for their degrees while still fulfilling their high school requirements. Their accomplishment reflects not only their personal dedication and hard work but also the district’s ongoing efforts to expand dual-credit opportunities and prepare students for college and career readiness.
Adding to this extraordinary achievement, four additional students from FCISD’s P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) program also earned their associate degrees as part of their extended 13th and 14th years of study. Bethany Pena, Donovan Rocha, Marcus Collins, and Orlie Ortiz have demonstrated what is possible when students are given the tools, time, and support to pursue advanced educational pathways.
Every one of the high school students who graduated through the traditional program received an Associate of Arts degree, a testament to the academic breadth and commitment of the students and faculty alike.
Floydada Collegiate ISD continues to set the bar higher each year, proving that rural districts can deliver exceptional opportunities for their students. The district celebrates not just the graduates themselves but also their families, educators, and community partners who have supported them on this journey. The achievements of these students reflect the transformative power of early college high school programs and the bright future ahead for FCISD.
With milestones like these, Floydada is not only making history—it’s building a legacy of excellence.
