LOCKNEY, TX – Changes are underway at Lockney ISD following the recent school board election and upcoming leadership transition in district administration.

The May 3, 2025 election was held to fill two open seats on the Lockney ISD School Board after the retirement of longtime board members Mike Lass and Billy Lefevre. Their departure marks the end of many years of dedicated service and leadership within the district.

Voters elected Justin Graves and Justin Wright to take on these important roles. Both will serve as trustees in the upcoming term, helping guide the district’s decisions and ensuring that the needs of students, staff, and the community are met. Their election signals a new chapter for the school board, bringing fresh perspectives and renewed energy to the table.

In addition to changes on the board, Lockney ISD is preparing for a shift in district leadership as Superintendent Jim Baum nears his retirement. After years of service to the school system, Mr. Baum’s tenure is coming to a close, and the district has named Steve Reynolds as his successor. Reynolds will assume the role of superintendent and is expected to continue building on the progress made under Baum’s leadership.

These transitions represent a period of change and opportunity for Lockney ISD. With new voices on the board and a new superintendent preparing to take the reins, the district is positioning itself for continued growth and success in the years to come.
