FLOYDADA, TX — A quiet stretch for emergency responders brought a welcomed change of pace for the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department last month, with just two calls for service recorded across more than three weeks.

The first call came on June 6, as firefighters monitored severe weather conditions across the area. The next call didn’t come until June 28, when the department responded to a single-vehicle accident on a Saturday morning.

Both incidents marked the only responses for the department throughout the month of June — a rare and appreciated lull for the all-volunteer crew.

The Floydada Fire Department is staffed entirely by community members who volunteer their time and skills. Those interested in joining or learning more about the department are encouraged to reach out directly.
