LOCKNEY, TX – Students across Lockney Independent School District will be returning to the classroom on Tuesday, August 12, marking the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year. The district will once again follow its four-day school week schedule, a structure that has become a familiar rhythm for families and educators in the community.
This year, children from Pre-K3 through 12th grade will be stepping back into their classrooms, ready to take on new lessons, build friendships, and participate in a variety of school activities. As a UIL Class 2A district, Lockney ISD continues to offer a range of academic and extracurricular programs tailored to meet the needs of its students while maintaining its close-knit, community-centered environment.
Families are encouraged to join in the excitement by posting their students’ first-day-of-school photos on this post. From little Longhorns starting their first day of Pre-K to high school seniors beginning their final year, it’s a time to celebrate milestones big and small.
The staff at Floyd County Record extends warm wishes to all students, teachers, and administrators for a safe, productive, and successful school year. Here’s to making 2025-2026 a year full of growth, achievement, and memorable moments.
