LOCKNEY, TX — W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital has been selected as one of only eight hospitals nationwide to join the inaugural cohort of the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program, a new federal initiative aimed at improving the financial footing of rural health facilities.

Supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration and led by the National Rural Health Resource Center, the program will provide hospitals with customized support from national experts to strengthen operations, identify care gaps, and expand services in high-need areas.

CEO Vince DiFranco said the program’s backing will be instrumental in aligning the hospital’s financial future with the community’s health priorities. “These experienced leaders and technical assistance professionals will assist in identifying care gaps and help customize our strategy to serve the community and work together through project implementation,” DiFranco stated.

The stabilization effort will span 18 to 24 months and includes a deep financial and operational assessment, strategic planning, and funding opportunities for facility improvements.

The program’s goal is to build long-term sustainability and ensure continued access to care in rural regions across the U.S.
