Floyd County Crime Report July 2025

FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

July 1st, Deputy received a report of an attempted break-in at a residence in the 700 block of South Main Street in Lockney. The suspect damaged the door to the residence but was unable to gain entry.

On July 1st, a deputy received a report about two preschool-aged children running across US 70 toward Dollar General without adult supervision. Someone recognized the two toddlers and stopped to pick them up. The caregiver told the deputy that she and the children were taking a nap, and when she woke up, she couldn’t find the two siblings.

July 3rd, a deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of SW 7th in Lockney to perform a welfare check on children left home alone. When the deputy arrived, one of the children told him that a sibling was chasing her around the kitchen with a knife. When contact was made with the children’s mother, she told the deputy she had left to run some errands. The children were released to the biological father pending further investigation.

July 3rd a deputy received a call about a 2024 Dodge pickup that was stolen during the early morning hours in the 700 block of West Locust Street. The complainant reported that the keys were left in the vehicle. The Dodge pickup was later found in Plainview, Texas, and returned to its owner. The investigation is still ongoing.

July 3rd, a complainant reported that someone had charged over $100 to her debit card, and she had also reported the incident to her bank.

On July 3rd, deputies responded to the 200 block of East Hartman in Lockney to locate Joe Anthony Nunez, who had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. When deputies approached the location, Nunez led them on a short foot pursuit. Nunez was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs X4, Possession of Controlled substances PG1 <1g, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Trespass, and Evading Arrest, along with Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon out of Swisher County.

On July 6th, a deputy responded to the 2000 block of East Highway 70 regarding a burglary. The complaint indicated that after returning from church, it was discovered that someone had kicked in the front door of the residence and stolen multiple valuable items. The case is still under investigation.

July 6th, Deputy responded to Floydada Coop Gin #2, located in the 2500 block of US 62, Floydada, to investigate vandalism. The complainant reported that the building’s front glass door was broken, but it appeared that nothing had been stolen from inside the building.

On July 14th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Ralls Highway for a traffic violation. During the stop, a probable cause search was carried out, and cocaine was found in the center console of the vehicle. Bernice Lucero, 54, of Floydada, was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance.

July 14th, a deputy made a traffic stop on a 2004 Kia Rio for a defective taillamp in the 300 block of Southwest 3rd Street. During the traffic stop, the deputy conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a THC vape pen. Tatyanna Cienfuegos, 25, of Lockney, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, <1g.

On July 16th, a deputy received a report about a stolen pickup. The complainant told the deputy that his juvenile grandson had taken his pickup sometime during the night without permission. The case will be referred to the Juvenile Probation Chief for prosecution.

On July 16th, a deputy was on patrol in the City of Lockney when he observed a white Ford Mustang driving recklessly in the parking lot of D&J Gin. The driver, Justin Gonzales, 21, of Plainview, was arrested for reckless driving.

On July 17th, a deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of East Locust regarding a juvenile making threats to an occupant of the home over social media.

On July 22nd, 2025, Sheriff Raissez responded to Davis Lumber after a burglary alarm activated. When he arrived, he saw that the front glass door had been shattered. It appeared that someone had used a hammer to break the glass, but no entry was made into the business.

July 23rd, 2025, a deputy stopped a black Chevrolet Silverado for speeding on US 70. During the stop, it was found that the driver was intoxicated. Noe Javier De Los Santos Jr, 38, of Lockney, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

July 24th, 2025, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Poplar Street after observing a white Chevrolet parked facing traffic. During the investigation, the driver was found to be intoxicated. Liborio Ascensio, 25, of Lockney, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and his passenger, Maria Perez, 22, of Lockney, was arrested for interference with public duties and tampering with physical evidence.
