Floyd County/Floydada Crime Report for September 2025

FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

September 5th, an officer was dispatched to Dairy Queen after someone attempted to pass a counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bill to pay for food. Rebecca Camacho, 62, of Floydada, was arrested for forgery and evading arrest.

September 5th, the Floydada Police received a call regarding the sexual abuse of a child. This case is still under investigation.

September 5th, Officer responded to a 911 call in the 200 block of West Kentucky regarding a Hispanic male brandishing and pointing a firearm at the complainant during an argument. This case is still under investigation.

September 6th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Kia Forte for disregarding a stop sign. During the traffic stop, the deputy noted signs of intoxication, and upon further investigation, Dallyce Barriento, 21, of Floydada, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

September 9th, Floyd County Sheriff received a call at home regarding an assault that was taking place in the 600 block of SE 7th Street. The Sheriff requested that deputies respond to the above-mentioned location for backup in Lockney due to a dispute and a firearm being brandished. Upon the Sheriff’s arrival, the suspect had fled the scene. The case is still under investigation.

September 9th, a deputy took a report of identity theft, where the complainant reported that someone had opened a credit card using their information in the State of Colorado.

September 11th, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned parent about someone possibly taking photos of their child’s vehicle, which was parked near the auditorium at FCISD. The complainant reported that the child had taken a picture of the person’s license plate. After a thorough investigation by the Sheriff, with the assistance of the Texas DPS Criminal Investigation Division, it was determined that there was no threat to the safety of students or staff at FCISD.

September 14th, an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevy pickup with Arkansas plates for failing to maintain a single lane. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer noticed signs of the driver being intoxicated, and upon further investigation by the officer, Agustin Sanchez, 47, of De Leon, Texas, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

September 18th, the Floydada Police received a report of a theft in the 900 block of Cedar Street, which happened sometime overnight. The complainant reported that a DeWalt cordless drill, a DeWalt tool bag with miscellaneous tools, a DeWalt finishing nailer, and two Greco paint guns were stolen from his job site. The complainant stated that he believed it was one of the workers who had taken the items. This case is still under investigation.

September 20th, the Floydada Police responded to the 1000 block of South 3rd Street regarding a stolen Motorola XT23171 cell phone. The complainant reported that the phone’s last GPS coordinates were in the 400 block of West Jackson Street.

September 21st, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Gray Hyundai Elantra for speeding on Ralls Highway. The Deputy was able to smell the distinct odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search. During the search, the deputy located five small purple baggies containing a white powdery substance in the driver’s wallet. The deputy also located a large, clear bag with marijuana. The driver, Devin Henderson, 22, of Floydada, was arrested for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (2nd Degree Felony) and cited for the marijuana.

September 23rd, a deputy was dispatched to the 1200 block of East Virginia Street regarding a possible poisoning of a stock show calf. The deputy took samples of the feed that the animal had been given and noted that the feed appeared to contain some chemically treated sorghum. The complainant came into the Sheriff’s Office and reported that the feed, which included the treated sorghum, had not been fed to the calf, but now believed that it may have died from something else. This case is still under investigation.

September 24th, the Sheriff’s Office received information from Child Protective Services about the sexual abuse of a child in the City of Lockney. The case is under investigation.

September 28th, a deputy responded to the 900 block of East FM 97 regarding the theft of a red 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup bearing Texas license plate HSP4007, which was taken during the night.

September 29th, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Poplar Street. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a highly intoxicated individual threatening to harm himself and others. The individual was detained and taken to W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital for evaluation, then transported to Oceans Mental Health Hospital for treatment.

September 29th, the Sheriff’s office received a call about a John Deere tractor and a batwing shredder abandoned on County Road 202 off of State Highway 207 sometime during the early morning hours. During the investigation, it was found out that the tractor and batwing shredder were stolen from Hale County, approximately five miles West of Petersburg, Texas. This case is still under investigation.
