LOCKNEY, TX – Happy State Bank has once again partnered with Lockney Elementary School to bring back the popular Kids’ Bank program, a hands-on learning experience that teaches students the basics of banking and financial responsibility.

Each Wednesday, the school is transformed into a mini bank where fifth-grade students serve as tellers, greeting their fellow classmates and helping them make deposits. With guidance from Happy State Bank employees, the young tellers learn how to add up balances, fill out deposit slips, and manage transactions—skills that provide real-world lessons in math, responsibility, and teamwork.

The program is led by Yara Poole of Happy State Bank, who continues to bring enthusiasm and encouragement to the students each week. Families are encouraged to open a Little Longhorn savings account for their child at the Lockney branch so students can participate by making weekly deposits.

Kids’ Bank not only helps children learn valuable money management skills but also builds a strong connection between the school and local community—showing that learning can truly be both fun and rewarding.
