Lockney Longhorn Band Heads to Area Marching Contest This Saturday

AMARILLO, TX – The Lockney Longhorn Marching Band is set to compete at the UIL Area A, Class 2A Marching Contest on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Dick Bivins Stadium in Amarillo.

Under the direction of Robert Rumbelow, the Lockney band will perform at 1:00 p.m. during the prelims round, where bands from across the Panhandle and West Texas will showcase their marching shows in hopes of earning a trip to the UIL State Marching Championships.

The Area contest begins at 10:30 a.m. and features schools from multiple regions, with Lockney performing after Colorado High School and before Reagan County. Following prelims, finalist bands will be announced at 4:00 p.m., and the top ensembles will return to the field for the finals performances beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Lockney band’s day will begin bright and early with an 8:30 a.m. call time, followed by departure from Lockney at 9:00 a.m. Once in Amarillo, the band will warm up at 11:30 a.m., take the field at 1:00 p.m., and then enjoy lunch together before watching other groups perform. Drum major retreat and results announcements are set for 4:00 p.m., with dinner to follow for the Longhorns.

Spectators can attend the contest for $5 admission at the gate or purchase tickets online through the UIL’s Hometown Ticketing link.
