Missing Lockney Teen Safely Located; Arrest Made After Monday Search

LOCKNEY, TX — A 12-year-old Lockney girl who was reported missing Monday afternoon has been safely located later that night, according to an update from authorities.

Officials confirmed that Amree Wetzel has been found and that an arrest has been made in connection with the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Amree was last seen Monday around 4:00 p.m. after leaving her home on a red mountain bicycle. She was reported to be wearing a white zip-up hoodie, jeans, and purple shoes.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that Amree was considered to be in potential danger due to medical concerns, as she experiences seizures. Community members were urged to immediately report any sightings or information that could assist in locating her.

The Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to the community for their swift response, support, and vigilance throughout the search.

UPDATE:

The Plainview Police Department arrested Tasha Elledge, 30, of Plainview, in connection with the incident. Elledge has been charged with kidnapping, and her bond has been set at $10,000.
