FLOYDADA, TX – First Baptist Church Floydada helped bring Christmas joy to children around the world this week by coordinating the delivery of more than a thousand Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
Volunteers gathered to load a trailer packed with 1,352 gift-filled boxes before transporting them to the Central Drop-Off location. The staggering total wasn’t the work of one congregation alone—multiple churches, organizations, and community partners contributed to the effort.
Shoeboxes were donated by members of Fairmont Baptist, FBC Ralls, Turkey, Quitaque, Matador, FBC Lockney, Lockney Global Methodist, Silverton Methodist, Crosbyton Calvario Community Church, FBC Paducah, FBC Petersburg, and even Floydada’s Dollar General.
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, sends shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to children in need across the globe. Each box is delivered with the hope of sharing encouragement, joy, and the message of Christmas.
The volunteers at First Baptist Church Floydada expressed gratitude for the widespread community involvement that made this year’s collection a success.
“It’s incredible to see so many churches and community members come together for a mission bigger than ourselves,” organizers shared.
The boxes will now begin their journey to children who will receive them just in time for the holiday season.
