A Message to Our Friends, Neighbors, and Loyal Supporters
As we prepare to welcome a new year, our family has been reflecting on something special—30 years of serving Floyd County. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, and we absolutely wouldn’t be here without your trust, your support, and your encouragement through the years. THANK YOU!
We want to share some updates on where we’re heading, and we want you to hear this directly from us: We are evolving and improving.
The media landscape is changing rapidly, and we’re making innovative improvements to serve you even better. On January 1st, we are going ALL digital on The Floyd County Record. Even though the final day of broadcast for KFLP-FM is December 31st, we are so excited about the next chapter being digital. This wasn’t an easy decision. With so many options for consuming music and the costs of operating an FM station rising every year, maintaining KFLP-FM no longer makes sense. But here’s the important part: we’re not going anywhere. In fact, we’re putting even more of our time, energy, and resources into the things you’ve told us matter most.
You’ll continue to get the music we’ve been playing on our new streaming platform, along with the local high school sports you love. We’ll stream every game on The Floyd County Record and broadcast on 900AM, which reaches a larger area. You’ll still get the local news that keeps our county connected on The Floyd County Record – Local News Now. And our farming and ag families? We’re with you every step of the way: Steven Orr and Tony will continue to deliver the coverage and information you rely on via 900AM and the All Ag All Day network.
We’re also excited to share a family update: Remington is stepping in as the new Editor of The Record. Many of you know him already—he’s active on the Chamber Board, a member of First Baptist Lockney, and he and his wife, Hannah, are expecting their first baby in May. He cares deeply about this community, and we couldn’t be prouder to have him help lead us into the next chapter.
We believe the best days for our local media — and for this community — are still ahead.
Thank you for being part of our story and the answer to our prayers. We can’t wait for you to see what’s next. “The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” Isaiah 33:6. We treasure you, Floyd County!
With appreciation,
The Ricketts Family
