FLOYDADA, TX – Two Floydada powerlifters are preparing to represent their school on a big stage this weekend.
Clarissa Garcia and Aphrodite Aguilar will compete at the Regional Powerlifting Meet this Saturday at Reagan County ISD, earning the opportunity to advance their season against some of the top lifters in the region.
Before they head to the competition, Floydada Collegiate students and staff gathered at the school to give the athletes a special send-off and wish them good luck. The show of support highlighted the pride the school community has for Garcia and Aguilar as they prepare to compete.
Regional competition marks an important step in the powerlifting season, with athletes looking to post their best totals in hopes of advancing even further.
Garcia and Aguilar will take the platform Saturday as they represent Floydada Collegiate ISD and the Floydada community at the regional meet.
