SAN MARCOS, Texas — Floydada and Lockney both had student-athletes named by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) and the Texas Army National Guard as recipients of Academic All-State in football for 2021.

Floydada had Erin Trevino as a student manager to the First Team, and athlete Trace Glasscock to the Honorable Mention squad. Austin Rodriguez of Lockney also was named Honorable Mention as an athlete.

To be nominated for Academic All-State the student has to be a senior; an athlete or student trainer-manager; good moral character; and a grade point average (GPA) of 92 or better. These items are factored into a point system that also includes class rank and test scores from either ACT or SAT. The point ranking then determines if the student makes First Team, Second Team or Honorable Mention.

The head football coaches of these programs are Cory McCombs of Lockney, and J.R. Compton of Floydada.
