FLOYDADA – Tuesday’s meeting of the Floydada Lions and Rotary Clubs featured a presentation on bison. Specifically the bison herd that lives just north of Floyd County at Caprock Canyons State Park.

Donald Beard, the park superintendent for Caprock Canyons, spoke to the clubs about the roughly 250 head herd’s history and genetics, as well as talking about the work they have done to help the animals thrive in the park.

If you would like information on the herd – the official herd of the State of Texas – you can always head up to the park’s visitor center in Quitaque, and you can plan your visit by going to the Caprock Canyons State Park website.

Floydada’s Lions and Rotary clubs hold their joint meetings every Tuesday at noon at First United Methodist Church.
